Hi,

Last built system in 2019 and I am out of the loop on current gear.
Looking for some advise on either upgrading parts of existing PC, or going down route of buying the new major components.

Current PC below. I expect I can re-use 2xM2.1TB drives, 1440p 144mhz monitor, keyboard, mouse and case.
  • Ryzen 7 3700X cpu
  • 3070 gpu
  • MSI B450 tomahawk max mobo
  • 2x8gb ddr4 3600 (C17) memory
  • Super Flower 650W 80 plus gold psu
  • LG 27GL850 monitor - main screen
  • Benq 24" monitor - second screen
I mostly use for gaming, for my sins games like Cod MWII so high FPS and smoothness a driving factor. (on a 1440p res)

I guess I have 2 budgets depending on whether a GPU upgrade is needed.
Without GPU around the £500-£600 mark.
With GPU around £1,000 to £1,200 (at a push)

I tend to prefer the AMD kit but open to suggestions.
Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

Just upgrading the CPU would help in most games to push up the average frame rate and in some games it'll help a lot (depending on how it responds to the cache and the detail levels you're using), so you could do that first and then see how it goes.

Graphics: I would not want to switch to anything less than a 4070 Ti or 7900 XT.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,107.97 (includes delivery: £7.99)

Thanks for reply
Reading some more reviews on the 5800X3D and they are all positive in fully utilising my 3070 with current kit.
Is the retail cooler on this unit up to the job or recommend an after market cooler?

I think my current PSU could handle the CPU change, not sure if would with suggested GPU?

Will look at the details on the RX 7900XT.
