Hi guys,

I have an Asus A8N mobo with an AMD 64 (939) single core processor with two 7800GTX cards in SLI, Raptor HD and Creative X-fi.

System is watercooled: cpu, gpus and mobo chipset all DangerDen.

I want to upgrade if possible to play the latest games. I spent a fortune on the watercooling so if I can keep some of that it would be good but not essential.

Can you recommend an upgrade path for me please

As it's a 939 rig you are extremely limited. AMD in their infinite wisdom killed off 939 in favour of AM2. You should be able to find a 939 dual core X2 for sale but you will pay through the nose for it. You could ditch the 7800gtx's and get a GTX 280 or even a single ATI 4870 or 4870x2. Your single core cpu will severley bottleneck the card though. Basically you are looking at a completely new pc. With that being the case i would wait and see what the new AMD Deneb core cpu's are like before making a decision. Initial reports are very promising. If they fail to live up to the hype then a new socket 775 rig would be the way to go.

Cheap core to duo mobo and cpu , and a waterblock for about £25

He might not need a new block. I am on the same block that i had on socket 754. Since then it has been on a 939 4000+ and four 775 cpu's including a Q6600 @ 3.8Ghz. Buy a decent block in the first place and it won't need replacing.
