Hi there, I am looking to upgrade my aging GTX280 SLI setup as I want some DX11 action in my games, and I am currently tied between either just buying a GTX480, or go the full hog and get a 580 instead.

From what I have seen online these cards are practically the same thing, apart from the 480 missing some CUDA cores, and having slightly lower clocks, but regardless of this, when I get my new card it will be going under water immediately, so none of this really matters.

The price of a 580 plus waterblock and back plate is going to set me back a considerable amount of money compared to buyingh an Asus GTX480 and the EK block and backplate.

My dad has a paid of GTX480s in SLI and it destroys anything my maching struggles with, so would I be right to say that I'd be better off just grabbing a GTX480 over the 580 or not?

Cheers

If your going with water you might as well get the 480 and clock it to close to 580 speeds and get vastly more moneys worth out of it.
