Hi All,

i built a pc a good few years ago and its now starting to slow up in a few games.

I want this to be able to run Starwars the Old Republic at a decent level so i was wondering if my current system would be up to it or if anyone could recommend a relatively cheap upgrade which would give it a bit of a boost (around £100 but cheaper if possible)

Current specs

Quad Core Q6600
Nividia GForce 9800GTX
4 GB RAM
Asus P5K Pro motherboard.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Well overclocking the CPU is cheap, you just need a bigger heatsink.

The next thing to do is replace the 9800GTX with something faster such as a GTX460/ATI 6850

Get a third party cooler nad clock the CPU and add a better gfx card - 460, 560Ti or similar depending on your budget.

EDIT: beaten to it.

There is a cheaper 768MB GTX460 with just 1year warranty and no accessories if a 1Gb card with its extra cores is too much money,

pretty easy, how much you get from the overclock depends on which q6600 you have a b3 or g0 version, the g0 overclocks better and doesnt get quite as hot.

download cpu-z and run that it should tell you which version you have.

sry core temp is another program , gives processor temps, but also lists the VID.

from that screen shot it looks like you also have it set to underclock/undervolt when not in use.
