Current system:

4770k, 16GB 1866MHz RAM, Gigabyte 4GB GTX770, 30" 2560x1600 LCD @ 60Hz

GTA V runs pretty smoothly with Mid-High settings but seeing some examples of what it can look like, I'm tempted to upgrade my GPU.

Should I go for:

970?
780Ti?
Or push the boat out for 980?

For that resolution the GTX980 would fair the best but...

Can't you hold out for another 2-3 months to see what the 390x or GTX980Ti can do?

Prices will surely drop on the other cards.

980 already running out of VRAM @ 1440p. Both Dying Light and Watchdogs do it.

I would hunt around for a second hand Titan/Black for £300-£350 or wait it out.

Either that or get a second hand R290 just for this game, then upgrade again in a couple of months.

That is a good point, considering I've only started thinking this after 1 evening on GTA ;)

The price point for 980Ti is likely be similar to 780Ti release price?
