Hi,

I would really appreciate your help. My budget is £1500 and for that, I need to get a modest gaming PC for my son, mainly to play things like RoadBlox, Fortnite & Minecraft at 1080p and potentially upgrade my 5 year old PC which I use for video editing in Davinici Resolve, VR, MSFS etc.

Option 1 is to spend the £1500 on a new build for me and give him my old PC or Option 2. I buy him a £600 ish system and spend £900 upgrading mine.

What would you do? Is it worth upgrading my system further?

My current spec:

i5 6400@ 4.4GHz - Kingston Fury Black 16GB DDR4 - Alpenföhn Brocken 2 CPU Cooler - Crucial BX200 240GB SSD - 1 X Seagate Firecuda 2TB SSHD1 X Seagate 320GB HDD - Zotac Amp Extreme GTX1070 - SuperFlower HX 550W

Thanks. Good question, on reflection my current system does everything I ask of it and pretty well. I guess I'm asking in both options, either replace (£1500) or upgrade (£900) would I end up with a much better system? If not then I may be better off just building him a 1080p budget build for £600 ish

You have many options here's one keep your 1070 and drop in a 1650/1660 super in your old system. If you can you could just outright get a 3070 but availability is an issue.

Your build I have gone for a 3700x 8 core as the new cpu are hard to get. 32gb of ram ms 2020 can use more than 16gb .

Gpu upgrades are hard to recommend above a rtx 2060 because of the new ones.

Your gonna have to make a call with gpu and cpu choices.

CODE My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,183.78 (includes shipping: £15.90)

Thank you, much appreciated
