got a dell 24" widescreen im more than happy with, just got a new case and 620w psu so now im ready for changing my main components.

im looking to spend about £500 but this is a bit flexable up to maybe £1k for the right result but would rather spend the minimum tbh

existing rig is

mb asus p5w dh deluxe
cpu core 2 duo e6600
ram g-skill pc2-6400 4mb ddr2
gpu ati radeon hd 4870 512mb

any idea as best way to play wow/ latest games at max res, existing rig will do everything else i need.

shall i start again with new board, cpu, ram and maybe a ati 6950 or can i make use of my existing stuff and change cpu and maybe crossfire the card?

any builds, suggestions, overclocks etc appreciated

ordered one of these, any ideas if its worth me putting a quad core in ?
will a 620w psu run it all ?

you have no choice about the quad core, the GFX your ordered with the e6600 will bottle neck.

stick a Q6600 in with a freezer 7 can clock it, the PSU is Corsair? if so that your good to go

psu is just a cheapo 620w tbh, just looked it actually says its a 650w but only cost £20 so who know's?

thanks for help, i will get a better psu.
so is the q6600 best i can get in my asus p5w dh deluxe, i checked asus site but not to sure what i can run in it
is it worth putting more ram in ? running win 7 home prem 64bit

didnt have much fun with the gtx470, so its been returned and refunded.

so today i have sold a few bits of the old rig, mb, cpu, ram and hard drive with w7 and made my mind up to upgrade.

this is in the basket at the moment

i intend to overclock to as near to 5ghz as possible so have put the h50 in.

any ideas on improving on this will be appreciated.

budget is flexible for the right results (all latest games on dell 24 " @ 1920x1080)

thanks for reply stulid

been reading up on the ssd drives and thinking this is maybe not a major requirment for me at the moment.
i read the Asus P8P67 Intel P67 deluxe maybe the best for oc so i have upgraded to that.

also, for gaming i also read that i dont need more than 4gb so this is the new suggestion, what do you think ?

looks good, its just that the PRO version of the motherboard is 350 cheaper and still a good clocker
