Hi all, looking for upgrade advice and this is usually my first port of call :D

Firstly my current spec:

MSI K9A2 NEO http://uk.msi.com/product/mb/K9A2-Neo-F.html#/?div=Detail
Nvidia 9800 GTX+
AMD Athlon 7750 x2 @ 3.0ghz
4gb DDR2
Win 7 64-bit

Currently only play at 1440x900 but I'd like some headroom for upgrading my screen in the near future. Would be great to play the latest games at good to high graphics levels. Struggling at the moment!

After reading many reviews and benchmarks I am thinking of upgrading the GPU with one of the HIS 6870's on offer at OCUK and probably replacing the CPU for an Phenom II X4 955 or Phenom II X6.

My main concern is do you think my current motherboard will hold everything back and is it worth putting this level of kit onto what is probably considered a dated motherboard?

If so I may be tempted into a new i5 2500k build, but would much rather make use of what I have to keep costs down.

Any help much appreciated.

PSU is 440w in a coolermaster elite 330 case. One of the reasons I was thinking of the 6870 is it looks less power hungry then say a 560 gtx.

Looks like a definite advantage to upgrading the CPU. I think for gaming the 955 BE looks good value for money. Useful comparison site thanks!

Purchased a B Grade XFX 6850 and AMD 955 from OCUK. Think I got a very good price of £80 considering the card looks brand new and only a scuff to the box.

So far I'm pleased, will hopefully run BF3 OK! Will find out tomorrow!
