Built this in 2009...

i7 920 overclocked to 3.5 Ghz
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel (TR3X6G1600C8)
Corsair HX 750W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-750HXUK)
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ)

Later I added in a 240GB SSD and a radeon 7850.

Getting pretty slow on new games so need to upgrade. I want a top gfx and to max out the ram, however I'm not sure if I should save the CPU+mobo or if you would recommend a whole new system. Budget isn't that limiting atm but ofc I don't want to burn money.

If it's worth simply upgrading then what ram should I be maxing it with?

Thanks for any input :)

Upgrade your graphics card and yes, consider a RAM upgrade. 6GB will be eaten up by top end games these days. Going to 12GB RAM and something like a 980/980ti or even a 1070 will be a huge improvement.

the CPU is 7 generations old now, i would consider upgrading the foundation personally, but you would see a big improvement with a GPU upgrade.

Depends on what you are looking for really :P

Im sure people will tell you until icelake has been and gone that your CPU is still good.. but thats the conservationists of us.
