Hi Guys

Would like your views on weather to upgrade. maybe part upgrade or even save up for bit longer, to get new Rig. Also like to stay with Intel cpu. Have budget of £1350.

Have had my Rig about 6 years and this is what I'm running with now,

Corsair Graphite 600T Case White. Really like this case and its still like new

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K
GPU: Nvidia GTX 970
SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB
SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 512GB
HDD: WD Black 1TB (2010)
RAM: HyperX Savage DDR3 2400 C11 2x8GB
MBD: Asus P8Z77-V LX
Corsair H40 Hydro Series High Performance
CORSAIR 750W ENTHUSIAST SERIES™ TX750 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Windows 10

Mostly for Arma 3 - bit of flight sim and couple of over games and general internet and work ie MS Word Publisher Excel. DVD Movies

So was thinking along the lines of i7 cpu, but then think maybe i5 8600. DDR4 3200 up the Graphics card,
not sure if there be any need for overclocking!

Will appreciate your views and advice. and trust you had great Xmas and Boxing Day.

Intel still your friend for Arma and flight Sims , specially for single core speed and IPC .

Also depends on what flight simulator as well as they can use more cores now but still dependant on speed .

What's your current monitor Hz and resolution?.

MS Flight Sim X. My monitor is Asus MG28UQ 4K Ultra HD 28"
  • 3840 x 2160p
  • Refresh rate: 60 Hz

For Arma and flight simulator , push intel and at 5ghz , since you'll be mainly running off 2 cores. Simx will be going Vulcan in the near future and free up some cores to be used but still will be speed based.

If you are going g to push newer AAA titles like BF series or AC etc the. Push i7 9700k

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,275.01 (includes shipping: £11.10)

Rtx 2080 will drive that 4k miles better the. Your 970 and will be able to push settings g up high. Your 970 4GB ram would most likely be a limiting factors with sim x
