Hi people ,like the title says would it be worth upgrading my current system or take the plunge and buy a new one.
My current system is .
i7 920 . 2.66
gtx 570
asus p6 t se mobo
cm 620 power supply
6 gig ram.
850 hd
xonar ds sound

if i was to get new how much do you think i would have to spend in order to get a system that i would see noticeable improvement.
Like wise if i was to upgrade what should i upgrade to get an improvement.

On the new build side i was hoping around the £1000 mark or higher if thats possible.Im not a pc builder so pre built would be my choice.
Many thanks people..

first of all many thanks to all you chaps for your advice. Right now you given me something to think of i be got a few more questions.

1 over clocking...I would not know where to start.

2 what exactly are b grade products..?

3 would new ram be a good option ?

4 I have a cm scout case and last time I looked the atI cards looked a bit long, I was told that I could fit 1in but might have to butcher my HD rack.
5 if I was to go with a new case and buy all my new bits from over lockers would they fit my old bits in to my new build or would they only supply.
6 don't want toget into the nvidia v ati wars but if I was to rebuild is there a card more suited to my i7.

cheers chaps

hey chap, thanks once again . you seem to be very knowledgeable were PCs are conserned ,would it be too much to ask if you could spec me a few bits . I look at all the gear oc sell and to be honest would not know if I was buying good stuff or tat. If you could do this I would get a better idea the true cost would be ..

eg...GPU, ssd, cooler, let's say 8gig ram ,and anything else that would benefit me,...I could do the case bit I think but you could reccomend a good quality case...Manny Manny thanks.

thanks a lot for all your help. going to give it some thought as to what to do next. Upgrading sounds good and a cheaper option but if I do manage to raise the cash a new PC is still a new PC and I could sell my old one for a fair price .As for the offer of help building a PC I really appreciate that and if I go down that road I would definitely give a shout. just 1last thing, if you had a budget of about £1000- £1200 what would YOU buy?

once again many thanks. Only problem is for every good bit of advice you give me it just gets me asking more questions. Hope your not getting bored with me yet.So come on give me some more....lol.

1 right if that list you did was my build I would have to sacrifice 1of the GPUs in order to get a case and HDD to keep the budget only problem is I've looked at the cases and once again there are that many so come on reccomend me 1. only thing I would like to keep it to say a midi case , not got that much room for a big case.
2 this 1might sound a bit draft but lots of you on here rate the at I 7950 but once again how do you choose your preferred card. .Is it just down to which brand you like or is there's 7950 that stands out from the rest and why?... really hope you don't mind all the questions

Many thanks

hey chap what can I say ,utter respect for your in put. Been a small change since last time I posted looks like I might be able to swing a new PC but with a couple of conditions added by my Mrs

1. max spend £1000_£1050

2. all I need is the tower ,desktop what ever you want to call it.got all other bits.

3. this would be for gaming and internet browsing only...abit of a boys toy really.

4.not really done any over clocking but something I would consider in the future so would water cooling be an option.?

5. would definately consider b grade on some items if could improve on GPU or CPU ssd a must, would like at least 256mb. don't think I would need a massive HD, only got 850 at the mo and its no were near full.
6. gonna need an is , bought windows 7but can find thebleeding thing any where.
I know it might be a bit too much to ask but what do you think my old would be worth, stated some specs at the begining of this post . .would be selling to help fund my new build.

hope this is not too much to ask cos you have been a great help so far. Only problem I find with this stuff is once you start you could go on for ever . lol.....just want to be sure I would be getting a decent set up that will last a good few years. Don't get to spend £1000 on a pcthat often, you would brobably see haleys comet again before I could buy a another one.

thanks for the reply random guy. If I was to upgrade I think I would be as well getting anew case ,could struggle getting 1of the new cards in so could you spec some bits to add to what I've got. ie ssd, GPU, case ,like I said in my previous post would it be a god idea to go with liquid cooling for the CPU in case I go for over clocking in the future?.

just like to say I've had a lot of good advice from idleman in previous posts which I am grateful for but I'm open to advice from all...it all helps I can assure you...BTW I play bf3 ,wars , arma2 wasteland and so on.
