Hi All,

Birthday time and she is pestering me to buy me something..

Current system is in my sig what would you go for next?

would i need to change mobo? or could i just go for cpu?

haven't thought about any budget yet but i know it wont be cheap

looking at upgrading the box, should i do mobo cpu & ram?

tbh its a nice machine alreadybut but it is a few years old now and if the wife wants to spend her money on me then im game :)

whats your thoughts?

Thanks gurus :)

Out of curiosity what Monitor are you running?

I'm looking to upgrade my PC too but the monitor is dictating things (i.e. choosing AMD or NVIDIA to match freesync or gsync respectively). If you are wanting to game, then perhaps you could look to try out a gsync monitor, as you already have a GTX 780?

good call,

I have 2 x 23" 1080 monitors and a 28" 1080 monitor all Acer....

am i still at a point where its not worth upgrading?

I'm not sure if its worth upgrading if as you should be able to run things very well at 1080p for a while, with the GTX 780 (plus your cpu is still really quite strong).

If looking to change to a higher resolution monitor, I would recommend only going for a new GPU possibly (maybe a R9 390x/Fury or GTX 980/ 980ti for 1440p).

Is you PC rig mainly for gaming? Depends on your budget really too. :)

While budget isnt an issue if i were to spend 4/500 quid upgrading it it wouldnt be a problem.

the pc is used for allsorts gaming / video editing / audio work/ photoshop

but it seems like i am still after 2-3 years sitting on a top spec machine?

i will always go for Nvidia if i were to upgrade the gpu as another R9 will never enter my house as long as ilive lol

I think a really nice upgrade would be getting the Dell U2515H for ~ £250. Its a great iPS monitor (25 inch, 1440p). Decent response rates for gaming but will help you video editing / photo work too (plus you know that with Dell, you should get great quality control).

Your GTX 780 would manage find for gaming (using this monitor) but what you could also do, is sell the 780, and get a stronger GPU for 1440p. You mention that you like Nvidia, so you could perhaps go for the GTX 980 which you can get for ~350 now (which is good value imo). But saying this, if you were to get a new monitor, you could see how the 780 gets on :).

This should keep your budget to under £500. :)

As for upgrading other parts of the system, I don't think you need to just yet. I think it will be fine for at least 1-2 years more (probably at least 2).
