Main pc being a pain atm :(

Had to use backup pc, argh its horrendous.

Current build is:

Epox 9npa+Ultra
Opty146
Sapphire X800GTO2
2Gb Corsair XMS 4000PT

Ive kinda been outta the loop for a while with regards to hardware, an attempt to stop spending so much - stop looking :p

Is there any point in buying into s939 stuff now ?

Are there any 939 cpu's at a reasonable price that would beat the opty? (its currently running at 2.5) or just a cpu to keep an eye out for on the MM, 2nd hand prices seem cheap atm to me.

Same goes with the gfx card, any mid range cards available that will perform better than the GTO2 ?

Basically just wondering whether to go new rig or upgrade a few pieces as this has been a solid build for me up until recently.

all help appreciated :)

not wanting to spend that much really maybe a coupla hundred,

basically the gfx and cpu from main wil go into the backup pc to give it a bit more usefullness.

For a couple hundred you could look at getting (Used):

X2 4400
Motherboard

Then buy new:
X1950Pro

Should be able to get that for around £300ish.

hmm,

so which is the most popular x1950 ?

also do these ourperform 7900's ?

All I will need to change is gfx and cpu the mobo seems to have fixed itself :erm:

that would have the backup pc running the opty and x800gto2 and an A8N Sli-Premium, that seems a tad better than the 2500barton and 9800pro its running now :p lol

what sort of price would a x2 4400 go for ?

Depends which 7900 and which 1950:

1950pro >= 7900GS
1950XT >= 7950GT
7900GTX < 1950XTX < 7950GX2

X2 4400+ or an opty 165 would be nice but you will have to look into MM or auction site to find one. If you're not bothered then just get a 4200+ new from OCUK.

If you don't demand the very best hardware then a dual core A64 + new GFX will easily suffice.

what is wrong with your current rig?
wouldn't it make more sence just to get a better gfx card? maybe upgrade your monitor or something?

your opti should be good for some time yet?
