Upgrade or not?

Hey Guys,

Thinking of getting the 4850x2. Might Crossfire another in future.

Do you reckon it would be an upgrade over my 4870?

Not really. As much as dual GPU solutions have improved, single GPUs are always much better supported. The price of the 4850 x2 is meant to render it pointless from what i read. Even when playing games that do make use of the dual GPU, it's not much of an upgrade.


At the moment, anyone who wants more power than a 4870 either plays crysis all the time, plays benchmarks, or has a 30" monitor (and plays crysis on it )

Just keep it !
