Upgrade path for 4770k ?

Just wondering what my options will be when I decide to retire my 4770k ?

Going to overclock it this coming week so I'm not looking immediately to upgrade but I'd like to know what choice I have and which chips would be the best upgrade ?

Whats your budget? What are your uses?

No budget but ideally best performance/cost, gaming, web browsing and music production

Not fussed if it's Intel or AMD but ideally looking for longevity like I've had with my Haswell

Sounds like you are going to get another 1 year plus from the 4770K, so come back then and ask the same question, as the whole CPU landscape will have changed again. This thread is pointless unless you are doing it in the next 2-3 months, sorry!.

So not really worth upgrading unless I absolutely have/want to ?

If you find that OC'ing the 4770K doesn't satisfy your requirements, then yes if upgrade if you want, but it's a bad time until Coffee Lake is out in 'fall' (read 'Nov probably), and some reviews come in. Other than that best price/performance/longevity is 100% AMD AM4, and more than likely 90% of the performance for as much as 50% less cash outlay, and socket supported until DDR5 comes alonng.

That's why I was asking really just in case the OC still bottlenecks my 1080ti and so I've got an idea of what to look for when the time comes, but it seems it's bad time for GPU, bad time for CPU, bad time for RAM, bad time for SSD, it sucks being a PC enthusiast.

I have a 4770k paired with a Ti and the only time I find a cpu bottleneck is in Battlefield 1 at stock speeds. A slight overclock sorts that out.

BF1 I'm not having issues, it's GTA V I'm getting issues with sometimes dropping below 60 fps even with the stock boost on to 3.9ghz, it's funny because it WAS fine until I decided to screw with the settings using geforce experience, now I can't get back to 100+ fps like I had before no matter what I do so figure I may as well spend next week OC'ing the Haswell and Ti to get some extra performance

I'm asking this as I've naively used for it all my games and even used DSR in the hopes it will use more of my Ti and less of my CPU
