Well,

It seems it has been 2 years since i last changed my main components and have got some spare cash to splurge and am getting upgradeitis rather strong.

Have been out of the loop for a while now (had big shock when i saw the price of 1TB HDD......when did they get pricey again?)

My current setup is in my sig, so over to soem sage advice as to what would be the best upgrade path?

Main use is gaming, but wil be using for some photshopping in the near future. Am happy with my GFX setup and want to keep my Eyefinity as works great with my two mains of EVE and FSX.

Have no main choice of CPU camp, would just like to know what is the best for me at the moment.

Cheers

in b4 everyone says i5 2500k

Get that.

You can still sell your CPU for decent money. Then add a motherboard and should work out sub £200.

1st... prices of HDD's went up when the places they are made like thailand etc were flooded, so it costs more to get the materials they need to make them, then more money to produce them, then even more money getting them to us!

TBH, you have a capable rig.

I would upgrade to a Z68 board with the i5-2500k, get a cooler like the gelid tranquillo or similar and overclock the chip to around 4.5ghz easily!

All I can really say for your upgrade xD

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM £179.99
1 x MSI Z68A-GD65-G3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £149.98
1 x Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366) £25.99
Total : £367.36 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Something like this will be perfect.

Motherboard is pricey as it supports PCI-E gen 3 and has 8X 8X for Xfire. In case you are wanting to get another 6950 in the future.

Is that within budget?

Bit excessive on the motherboard. Yea its good but you can get the same of similar performance from a cheaper Z68 board. i.e. MSI Z68MA-ED55

Ok, it doesn't have PCI-E 3.0 but there will be no cards (well proper cards) out to support it for a while and the performance figures on the board are still great, plus you save £20 xD
