Hi All,

Not building pc now got a hp 6325 that is about a month old from a mate

question is it has an e4500 allendale in so why does it also have 667mhz ram?

also a 8500gt gpu

any route for a fast cheap improvement here?

The easiest and cheapest way to get an improvement would be to overclock if the motherboard allows for it.

As for the Ram, 667mhz is PC5300 speeds and is actually a bit faster than what an E4500 would need to run at stock speeds (PC3200 DDR2 since it has a quad-pumped FSB) which is one of the reasons why I'd suggest overclocking.

I don't know how good the PSU is for that PC nor how much space is available internally so it is difficult to say what would be the best graphics card to switch to but if you want the system for gaming then a change would be advisable.

I think the board is locked for overclocking,

the fsb is at 200 and the cpu multiplier is 12x

the ram is running at 333mhz, i wondered if i put in 400mhz ram it would make the ram run at 800mhz too?

The CPU multiplier should be at 11x to create the 2.2ghz speed at stock and the FSB is actually 4x200mhz to reach the 800mhz FSB that is standard on the E4X00 range. So therefore I'd expect the Ram to actually be running at 200mhz unless it is unlinked from the FSB since some motherboards allow this.

What is your budget here for upgrades? And what are the main uses for your PC?

Hi,

The ram is definatley at 333mhz which is the top rating a it is 667 ram.

There is a ram divider set on it to make it so think it is 3:4

Not to worried about budget,

i was thinging of getting a good nvidia like 8800gt and 2gb of 400mhz ram, possibly a new psu if this one isnt that powerful but im yet to look inside to check the rating on it.

Ill be doing mostly web and email but like to play some decent games occasionally. FSX etc no crysis or fps really except maybe cod4 in the future.
