I think this is about the minimum you'd require to get a decent Conroe based system that would offer any noticeable improvement over your current PC. It should also be good for 3ghz+ but is dual core and ought to be faster overall.

It is as good for gaming as any CPU/motherboard/Ram will be pretty much, it should be faster than your current system but since the graphics card is unchanged it might not make all that noticeable a difference. There is definitely good potential to overclock though.
