Upgrade Possible?

Hi, I currently have:

AMD 146 @ 3ghz
2Gb Geil Ram
7800GT


Is is possible to upgrade to a conroe If my budget was around £300 - £400? Maybe stretch to £500. I do overclock.

I think this is about the minimum you'd require to get a decent Conroe based system that would offer any noticeable improvement over your current PC. It should also be good for 3ghz+ but is dual core and ought to be faster overall.

Will this be good for gaming? That's what I do most.

It is as good for gaming as any CPU/motherboard/Ram will be pretty much, it should be faster than your current system but since the graphics card is unchanged it might not make all that noticeable a difference. There is definitely good potential to overclock though.

Aye if you only game you'd see more by spending that money upgrading the GPU than you would the CPU.
