Hi guys. Was wondering if you could shed some light on this problem. I bought some upgrade stuff from OCUK which arrived yesterday and I'm having a few problems.

As the title suggests I need to clear the CMOS every time I restart my computer otherwise I don't get a video display. It starts off as if it's coming on and then goes into standby. It seems like everything else is working in the background, although it's kinda hard to tell. I've tried re-seating and disconnecting/reconnecting hardware and clearing off and re-applying the thermal paste to the cpu. Still no joy though. It's definitely not overheating and there's no unwanted contact between the mobo and something else.

Once the CMOS has been cleared it boots up perfectly so I think that rules out a processor fault. I think I've pretty much narrowed it down to the mobo, but as I've never really had this problem I was wondering if anyone had some advice or experience with this problem.

Specs: (everything at stock atm)

CPU: Intel Core 2 DUO E6300
Mobo: Gigabyte GA_945PL_S3
GFX: Leadtek Nvidia GeForce 7950GX2
Mem: Corsair 2GB DDR2 Value Select PC4200
HDD: Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB 3200KS
DVD/RW: Sony DWG-120A
CPU Cooler: Scythe Ninja Plus
Case: Antec Super Lanboy

Funnily enough that's what I thought it might be, but I was able to scrub that off the list when I flashed it and it didn't change anything. I put all of the settings back to 'optimized defaults' or whatever and it's still being an arse.

And thanks for the welcome :)

Could be a compatibility issue with the 7950, have a look to see if there is a BIOS fix for it or whether anyone else has had this problem on the motherboard makers website.
