I bought the xps 1710 about 4 months ago, i was just wondering if it is possible to upgrade to the new Core Duo chip that they are currently selling in the new xps 1710

any ideas or would it be completley impossible?

any advice would be great

Thanks

Duncan

bump - i know its probably not possible - but anyone got any ideas? maybe a phone call to dell to ask if they would do it themselfs?

also is there a big difference between the centrino dualcore and the duocore2? - for laptops that is!

cheers

do you know how i would go about this, and would they need to change the motherboard as well

secondly is it worth doing in the first place?

would i notice a big difference between my centrino dual core and the new dual core pentium? - i have the 2.1ghz one

cheers

yes it is possible, im upgrading mine from a t2600 to a t7600 this xmas.

The speed increase is nice but im mainly after 64 bit extensions.

You will see a speed increase in both single and multi threaded apps, be able to run 64 bit os's.

There is a guide on the internet and i think there is one in the xps manual (but i havnt bothered to open it yet so i wouldnt know for 100%)
