I'm at the stage where my current ps4 is constantly full. I've deleted all the games I don't play but still breaching the limits of the standard hard drive. Would you either upgrade to a 2tb hard drive (probably the Samsung m9t or the Seagate barracuda), or just sell up and get the PS4 pro with 1tb HDD and performance boost? I have no issues with performance with the way it is so not too sure what to do.

If your happy with your current setup, just change the hard drive. If you've got a 4k tv/monitor or want the better performance or graphics then upgrade to the Pro.

I'm fairly happy with it. I didn't bother getting a 4k TV mainly for the fact I knew I wouldn't have much 4k content for a good few years to come. Maybe the hard drive is a better route to go down. Have any of you upgraded yours?

Mine has a 1TB SSHD, works well and I always load into games noticeably quicker than my friend who still has the 500GB stock drive. Still got loads of space left on it too.

I think I've got about 150GB free or so. I keep most of my games too but if I know I'm not going to play them again any time soon I don't see the point in keeping them installed.

Ultimately, the more space you have the more you'll find to fill it!

Thats very true. I think I'm still swaying more for a 2TB option though. I wouldn't want to find myself filling a 1TB drive then shell out for another upgrade.

I switched from my launch PS4 with a 2TB to a PS4 Pro with a 2TB and i'm happy to be honest.

You can't just swap HDDs, the data is tied to the console so you'd need to backup everything first and then restore it with the HDD installed in the new one.

Say if I just upgraded the hard drive on my current PS4, Is it a straight plug and play to swap into a PS4 pro or is the initial software different too?

You'd have to do a backup, then put the new hard drive in and install the firmware via a USB to get it up and running then restore the data off your external.

Thanks.
I think I'll go for a HDD for now then maybe further down the road get a PS4 pro and swap the bigger drive to it.

I see there is a newer version of the Samsung M9T available. Namely the Seagate Barracuda. Would there be any noticeable difference or improvement in the use of either?

I'm tempted just to buy a Seagate 2TB expansion portable HDD and pull the drive out of the casing. Especially when they are half the price (Samsung M9T inside them)
