Well tomorrow I'm going to take a trip to OcUK, partly out of bordom and wanting to get out on the motorbike, mostly because of lack of patients and I've all of a sudden come over with the urge to upgrade lol.
My initial plan was just to get a HD 4870, then I decided I may as well get a new CPU while I'm there, namely a Core2Duo E8600. Also think I'll pick up some new ram, probably a PC8500 2x2Gb kit.
Anyways, I'm just wondering if there is anyone around here any/all of the above on an Asus P5B deluxe? Just wondering about sucsess of any overclocks, stability issues, general performance etc. I'm going to be upgrading from my sig, although I'm no longer running at 3.51Ghz, I can't seem to get it past around 2.7Ghz anymore on some of the recent BIOS' which is rather annoying. I'm just hoping the E0 stepping will help me in that.
I'm also worried because looking at the specs of the motherboard, it says the max speed for memory is PC6400 and the max FSB rating is 1066, Just don't fancy buying it all and it not working on the motherboard lol. Is this board likely to be ok running the faster memory/FSB?
Additionally, I may end upgrading my motherboard next month, so has anyone got any recomendations for good boards out at the moment, what are the good chipset to look for for a system with the above hardware.
