Was wondering if anyone could assist me on this query that I have.

my current setup is :

Intel 2500k i5 with a asrock extreme 4 gen 3 mobo and im using a 6950, now i'm looking at getting a new graphics card but now remember that with the sandybridge CPU's, that they never supported PCI-E 3. My mobo supports it but not the cpu and was wondering wether I would lose a lot of bandwidth fitting a new gpu with this issue? Should I ditch the cpu and if I have to which one would be ideal? I don't really want to be spending over 200 for a cpu and then have to get the new gfx card on top.

any suggestions are most welcome.

thanks

good to hear as I didnt really want to waste money on a new cpu if i could help it.

I need to overclock this 2500k, i've never gone over 3.9 as im using a stock cooler lol, any suggestions on a good cpu cooler?

What ram and case do you have and how much are you willing to spend?

Or just grab one of these unless you fancy something a bit more beastly/pretty :)

throw some suggestions, is the matterhorn not suitable?

I was going to go watercooling when I purchased this case a few years back but didn't proceed and to be honest still not interested in going watercooled.

budget would be probably under £50 for the cooler possibly, Not interested in the corsair H series
