Upgrade question

Currently I have an AMD 3200+, an ASROCK mobo, 1gb of ddr ram and a 150gb Maxtor HD.

For Xmas I will be getting a c2d 6300, gigabyte ds3 and 1gb of geil ram. If I were to upgeade to this would it be a case of just selecting the HD in boot priority and it will run the OS and all installed software, then installing (if any) additional drivers for my mobo/cpu/ram.

Would this work or does it require a full reformat to work?

It may work however due to it being a different motherboard manufacturer a fresh install maybe required as you will have ASRock chipset drivers etc on your HDD. Just try it and see if it works.
