Hello all,

I'm upgrading to a C2DE6600, Gigabyte DS-3 and 2GB OCZ 6400 RAM. My graphics card is a 1800XT, and I'm going to wait until more dx10 cards are released before I upgrade.

I have 2 questions:

1) I have a 485w Enermax Liberty PSU, will this be enough? I suspect so but just want to be sure.

2) As I'm going from an X2 3800+, will I need to reinstall windows? Bearing in mind in the past I've managed to upgrade without any hitch at all, windows just appears to recognise the new hardware and it all works.

Thanks!

Should be fine

Changing M/B and CPU?, would be highly recommended :)

I would reinstall windows yes, as you're changing pretty much everything except for the graphics card and drives! You'll end up with a very messy windows installation otherwise.

Personally I'd get at least the Corsair 520w if you can. But tbh you should be alright with the PSU you have already :)

Some cases when changing chipset windows won't even let you in! Reformatting will also give the maximum performance boost, making it even more like money well spent!

I think that PSU is fine, don't worry. You might need to upgrade when you get a DX10 card, but for the moment, it'll handle everything well.
