Upgrade Question.

Hi, this is my first post. How are you all?

Just need some advice on something please.

I am thinking of upgrading my AMD 3700(single core)/1 meg ram system & a nvidia 6800gs graphics card(256 MB) to a AMD 6000(dual core)/2 meg ram system & the leadtek 8800GTS (640MB) gfx card as featured on the OcUK site.

How many times faster do you reckon this overall system will be to play the latest games? For example test drive unlimited averages around 25-30 FPS on my current system, would i be able to hit the 100+ FPS mark with the new gear or is this a little bit too ambitious?

Was running test drive at 1024x768, no AA & 4x anisotropic. It was running 25-30fps at best but was dipping down to 15-20fps in many places. Basically unplayable!

Just a question on the AMD 6000 dual core. Does the AMD 6000 bit still mean AMD's equilavent of 6 ghz? Would this in effect be a 6 ghz dual core?

I heard somewhere that intels have poor performance compared to AMD for gaming, i take it times have changed!

I guess an AMD6000 actually runs around 3Ghz but aren't AMD meant to be much more efficient on cpu cycles than intel? I did think the 6000 bit meant 6 Ghz, my AMD3700 definately feels like a 3.7 Ghz!!

Thanks, nice to be here! What is the best value for money 8800 out there?
Would it be worth waiting for the 8800 ultra to come down in price?
I suppose the 8800 ultra will be around the £250 mark when the 9 series come out at the end of the year? Or am i wrong here?
Forgive me i'm a bit out of touch since my last upgrade!!
