Hi there

I am on the brink of upgrading my machine to something a little more current. However i have been out of the loop for a little while so i am unsure of what works with what.

I am thinking of the following:-

Abit IP35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.66GHz (1333FSB) - Retail

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)

Will that memory work in that board with the processor, i am a little confused as the processor says 1333mhz fsb but i think the memory is only 800mhz or am i missing something here?

Anyway, any help would be appreciated

I'm not an expert but it will work. The 800mhz and fsb are different and if you had memory at 1333mhz I'd be quite impressed!

Thanks for the quick reply.

In addition to my original question, are the items i have selected actually any good? I wont be overclocking them.

Well given that I have recently ordered the ram and mobo I should hope so! There have been a lot of people in these forums saying both are good. Also if you're not overclocking then I believe that cpu is the best for the price.

I will be using it for mainly gaming, not getting a new graphics card just yet. I will wait until i have more cash after christmas for that. My x800xl will suffice for now on the games i play.

I wont be overclocking it as i have done a bit before and takes me a bit too much fiddling about, and to be honest im not really sure about what i am doing:/ I want to be able to put it together and not worry about having to spend loads of time tweaking it.

I have a 460watt Hyper type R PSU in my machine. I know as of late they havent been getting the best press but the one i have is nearly 3 years old when they seemed to be a bit better. I am hoping this will suffice for the time being until i get a new graphics card, at which point i will replace the psu.

I am thinking of putting XP on the machine whens its built, would there be any benefit for me to go to vista just yet?

Well unless you really want dx10 for games or are gonna buy more than 2gb of ram just stick with XP as it'll run quicker.
