Today I upgraded my 8800gts 512mb to a 4890 1gb and 3d mark 2006 only increased by 1000 to 13,000.

I went onto control panel and removed the old graphics card drivers properly.
Am I doing anything wrong?

EDIT: Is 3d mark 2006 a bit useless now as it is testing obsolete technology?
