Hi guys,

First post on the forums....need some advise about upgrading my current graphics card.

My rig at the moment hasn't been upgraded for a while so is really struggling with recent releases. Current rig,

E2200
Asrock 4CoreDual (AGP and PCIE)
2Gb Carsair Ram
Radeon X1950XT (AGP)
Antec Neo Power 480w

I'm looking to get a new graphics card for under the £100 mark but am unsure which would be compatible with the motherboard as from what I know it has a cut down PCIE socket??

Also concerned about the PSU as it's only 480w.

Any suggestions welcome :)

Thanks

new MB to avoid bottlenecks beign formed by the pcie slot and it will allow for easier overclocks, thus removing potential cpu bottleneckign too

Just get the ASUS 4850, your PSU might struggle with the 4870, I wouldn't take the risk.

agreed. but the psu needs upgrading. so it might be a good idea to get the 4870 and a new psu. esspeciay as the psu can be reused later on. in any other builds. also only 2 Gig of ram?

Thanks for the replies. I think it is DDR2 but would need to check.

I've got a 22" monitor but obviously my current card is restricting what I can game at. I usually set it as high as possible until the game becomes unplayable. Would want to aim for somewhere around 1280x1024 or widescreen equivalent.

This will more than likely just be a short-medium term upgrade cause I know the whole rig needs upgrading really (probably end of this year)

Thanks

Just looking at the ASUS 4850, seems like a bargain for the price.....would this run OK with my MB and PSU?

Thanks
