Upgrade question?

Im currently on 2gb ddr2 lol

Asus p5w dh deluxe

Im on E2200 cpu overclocked to 2865mhz

8600gt and 2 x 300gb sata drives.

Ive been well and truly out of the scene for ages now.

Was thinking of just getting a q6600 for a cheap upgrade but there not that cheap lol...

Would i be better off going newer like the i5 range and going for low end cpu and ram but a good mainboard that i can upgrade as money allows?

Thoughts please as i better bring myself into the new age!

so i could i start off at the cheap end and get a Intel Core i3 2.93 GHz Processor and put the rest of the money towards a better motherboard?

Ive been used to asus boards for years but dont mind changing to the ones above:)

Would i get much of a overclock out of a budget chip?

EDIT i also dont mind changing over to the amd route? if its better value for money?

I really have been out of the loop for like 6 years!
