Upgrade Question

Good Evening I up until recently had a PoworColor HD5770 that seemed to do me well then my son needed a card for gaming so as we all do I gave him mine and figured I would upgrade looking at the 6850 but am now wondering if I really need to upgrade.

my current pc consists of:

i5 2500k @ 3.30GHz
ASRock H61M-S motherboard
8GB DDR3 Ram (probably cheap)
1 Tb drive
Corsair HX450w psu

I hardly ever game, but run a 32 inch LG full HD tv and a 18 inch monitor and use photoshop and illustrator a lot so and need a quiet setup as the 5770 was pretty quiet and I watch a lot of x264 shows and avi films, . Should I upgrade my card and if so what is the recommendation for around the £100 (ps my windows experience score is higher for Gaming graphics without the 5770)

if you watch films, you're gonna be stuck with the 24hz bug that intel has (with that generation of processors/mobo)
the only way round it is to get a graphics card

Hello and welcome to the forum

Personally I would keep the card you got and get the 6850 for your son.

6850 is a waste if you do very little gaming.

The sons rig is one of those swap around as in I got the i5 and he got the Q8300, I was not sure how much Photoshop CS6(Mercury Graphics Engine) with the new 3D and Illustrator relied on the graphics card and I may add an extra monitor at some stage. I was looking at the 5850 and 6850 before he decided he wanted a card he plays a lot of steam games.

I looked at the card tamzzy linked but it seemed like it ran a bit noisy the 5770 is the overclocked version and was really quiet so any new card would need to be the same I may even take advice on a nvidia card.
