Right....probably make myself look stupid here, but that's noting new...:)

I bought the rather nice offer RAM that was in the deals section t'other day and went proper mental and got two kits. Now have me 32GB of RAM (why, because I can)

Was not aware at the time that W7HP only allows you 16GB, even though it says there is 32 in there.

Now, to have full access I have a few options that I can see

1 - Upgrade W7 to either Pro or Ultimate (£120 and £125 respectively through the Anytime Upgrade)
2 - Go down the W8 route and get suitable version there
3 - Hack the hell out of W7HP and make it use the other 16GB

The questions I have on this is

1 - Is it actually worth it getting the Pro or Ultimate versions of W7 or should I just head down the W8 route? If I do, which version and more importantly, will I have to go for fresh install?
2 - Is option 3 actually viable? (ie has someone else already done this and are there very easy steps to follow?)

Cheers

for me i'd go pro with win 7 as thats what im running now and wait for first sp1 to come out before going onto win 8, or at least give it a few more months as not all drivers for it are even out of beta yet, plus the loads of updates since release didn't make me think it was also quite ready as yet, many will disagree, but i did th same with xp and win7 and not looked back tbh, i never get the latest of anything on release, its always better and most of the time cheaper hardware and software if you wait a bit

ps a fresh install oem etc can be cheaper for win7 pro £89.37

can't link you, but google it "win7 pro" in google.co.uk
