Upgrade question?

I have a gigabyte 670 WF

It's been great but I have the itch, I really want a custom 290 but it's taking forever and they seem expensive. I have a 3570k at 4.3ghz now do I do the following, I could spend the dosh or I could save some, don't wanna wait

280x toxic £275
290 ref £330
780 £380-400

i'd rule the 280 out straight away, not much point there.

Ref 290 and your good to go

Really why thought 280x would be an upgrade

780 classy from MM will be here next week, should be a real upgrade over 670 now just for a 144hz monitor and I'm golden
