I'm looking to upgrade my PC(it's my gaming PC), in the next month or so, at the moment I've got:

i7 860 Lynnfield overclocked 2.80Ghz overclocked to 3.4Ghz
Asus P7P55D-E LX Motherboard
4 GB (2x2) DDR3 667Mhz Corsair (7F7F9E0000000000)
Asus Radeon 5850 Direct CU 1GB.
Corsair TX750w PSU
1TB HDD

I'd like to spend a bit of cash and get it so it'll be fine for a few years.

I was planning to get:
MSI Radeon R9 290X Gaming Edition 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Kingston HyperX Beast 16GB (2x8GB) PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

And in couple of months:
Crucial M550 256GB SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive

Would the mobo and CPU I've got be a bottleneck for the new kit or are they both ok for a couple of years yet?

Thanks

Your spot on your cpu will be fine, gpu, ram is a good upgrade and SSD . I mite be tempted to go gpu and SSD first ,have you consider the gtx 970 gpu ?

I have the following PC

I7 950 @ 4ghz
6GB 1600mhz ram
250GB Samsung evo 840

previously I had a radeon HD 5830 and ive just upgraded to a GTX 970 which I am glad I did.

I would go for a SSD and new GPU, if its gaming you do and its a fps boost your after then do the GPU first.

4GB ram should be fine unless your finding out your running out of memory.

No, was happy with the Radeon card I've got so just thought an 8gb card would be a natural choice,

Would something like the below be better for gaming, I’ve got a 27” curved 1080p screen and you can see some jagged edges on it. (possible upgrade for the future would be to get 3 of them or a 34” curved when they come down in price.

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4096MB GDDR5
