I've made this thread numerous times now, but I'm finally ready. I have the funds and I desperately need an upgrade. I've currently got a GTX260 and it's beginning to run a bit hot and getting regular crashes. So I've got maximum £200 to spend (but ideally I'd prefer to spend as little as possible). Always been a fan of nVIDIA cards, but looking through the forum, ATI seems to be discussed more currently.

Current Setup:
i7 920
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5
Corsair HX750

I've got the day off today and tomorrow, so I'm ready to order now (for delivery tomorrow).

If you can wait a few more weeks we might be seeing the 78xx series cards from AMD come out which should be in your budget. Other than that keep an eye on the members market for a good used NVIDIA or AMD card, maybe a 69xx series Radeon or GTX560Ti.

Meh... waiting is for cows!

HIS ATI Radeon HD 6950 IceQ X Turbo 2048MB @ £219 inc Deus Ex game

or

MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti OC Twin FrozR II 2048MB also @ £219

A little over budget but both great cards.... id go for the MSI GTX 560TI

I don't play anything too intense. My game of choice is still CoD4. Hoping to get in on GW2, CS:GO, maybe Diablo 3.

The 560Ti is the one I was looking at, so it's good too have a few recommendations for that card.

Agreed.

I would say, if you can afford to, get a 2GB card. Im struggling with my 1GB card on Skyrim, as it want 1.5GB to be flawless.

The Twin Frozrs are lovely looking cards.

Or you could buy these same cards for about £150 second hand. For around £200 you could get a 6970 or 570gtx- in very good condition too, like couple months old.
Paying for brand new is cool when the cards have just come out, but now that these are nearing their "EOL" (end of life), i wouldnt do it.

+1 - I'm in the same boat with my Radeon 5850, might be tempted to buy a 7870 new when they come out but wouldn't buy a new card now when both NVIDIA and AMD are soon to release next gen cards.

Im with you OP - want to upgrade; but forcing myself to wait for NVDA's cards to see what they bring ...
for 200 Id either get a 6950 or wait a couple weeks and get a 7850/70 or wait even more and see what NVDA brings ... maybe you could get a 560ti 448 core but pretty close to a oced 6950 etc ...
