That time has come to bite the bullet and upgrade again!

Current system is 32month old....

SN95G5 v2, Ath64 3500 Winchester Core
1GB RAM (Ballistix)
160GB Spinpoint HD
AGP (as I remember) Std Geforce 6800 128MB Sparkle
20inch 1680x1050 monitor

Not great for gamesplaying these days, as its basically my video card thats holding it up!

So, alternatives are upgrading the video card (Cheapest option), but the options are severely limited, and I don't think i'll find one quick enough!

Or, upgrade the whole shebang.. In that case, what to? SG03 looks nice as a case - I like some semblance of portablity. I've had no problem with the shuttle except that expandability has proven its achilles heel IMO, and they aren't cheap! but I really have no idea what from there on. I'm way out of date on the hardware things these days.

So, I'm looking roughly at dual core (poss quad depending on price diff), 8800 graphics, 2GB RAM as a starting point, PSU, m/b. I may retain the drives from the Shuttle.

Recommendations welcomed!

Cheers!

Maybe something like this, you might want to change the case for a black one when they come back in stock but otherwise it seems to fit the requirements. If you really want a Silverstone case then I think you will need to go with dual core. :)

psu needs a 12v rail with 27A if possible, as thats the recommendation but i've seen posts from people running one on less.

no obvious reason why the 1950 shouldnt fit in a shuttle not any bigger than my old 6800gs.
