Hey Guys,

Don't normally post these sort of things but I've been out of the loop for a little while now.

Just getting into DCS World again and this made me consider my upgrade routes from my existing PC.

Current Spec:
I7-6700K 4.0GHz 4c/8t
16GB DDR4 (4x4GB) Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz
Gigabyte Z170-UD3 LGA1151
MSI QuickSilver GTX1070 8GB
250GB SSD
2TB SSHD

Not sure whether the wiser option is to wait for the new 10th Gen CPU's and GTX 3*** GPU's or to look at selling my parts and buying 9th Gen & 2****?

Cheers,
Olly

Not restricted to Intel specifically - However I know knothing about the AMD kit now admittedly and unsure how they would perform given a lot of games are still single core performance favourable aren't they?
That will all change one next gen arrives. The single core performance of ryzen is still very good. Perhaps other people can chime in on this subject, certainly no expert.

Cheers pal! This forum is great, such a resource of knowledge for us like minded folk.

For sure! Always find what I need here :P

On another question, does anyone know what the result of mixing RAM nowadays is? For example at the minute I have:

1: 4GB 3000 MHz 15-17-17-35
2: 4GB 3000 MHz 15-17-17-35
3: 4GB 3000 MHz 15-17-17-35
4: 4GB 3000 MHz 15-17-17-35

Could I go to:

1: 16GB 3000 MHz 15-17-17-35
2: 4GB 3000 MHz 15-17-17-35
3: 16GB 3000 MHz 15-17-17-35
4: 4GB 3000 MHz 15-17-17-35

or would that have detrimental performance?

yes this will work for dual channel 40gb. very odd size but seen it done many times.

Gamers Nexus have a video that you may find of use:

IMHO 10th gen Intel is unlikely to be a huge - or even significant - advance but you never know. At the very least it should occasion Ryzen price drops.

And with a 1070 I would most definitely wait for the RTX 30xx GPUs.

Fantastic thanks, would likely be a placeholder to spread the cost of going up to say 64GB so useful to know I can make hops :)

Very useful video actually so thank you for that.

I wonder if Ryzen will take the lead over 10th Gen Intel for gaming given the recent performance.

Will hold out on the GPU for 30xx :)
