I know of a few people who are interested in Sky HD but didn't fancy the £150 upgrade for existing customers (plus £60 installation).
It woulld appear that we can now get it cheaper - however this deal expires in a weeks time.

You pay:

£75 for the box
£30 install
Then they credit £15 back onto your account - so in effect £90.

No need to call up and threaten to cancel, beg for the deals.
Just do the upgrade online (so you get your £15 credit).
The only stipulation is that you have to take out the £10 per month HD Mix package - which makes sense.

Good offer. I would have liked not to take the HD sub just yet and get the free to air HD channels and then subscribe when more are added. Oh well, still decent.

If you do have sports and movies then the tenner gets you 19 HD channels (13 if you don't) so it's not totally unjustified. There is rumoured to be a load of extra HD movie channels coming soon too.

I would also say that without a display of around 37" or larger you may not see the benefit and it may not be so much value for money.

Only have sports. Good deal if you have all the premium channels, but just a tad too expensive each month on top of what i already pay :)

WOM on IRC and at work is that a phone call to sky will waive the installation charge without too much effort, making the upgrade £75 all in.

Good offer either way mind.

I've tried a couple of times to get them to waive the installation charge and both times been unsuccessful. £60 to plug in a box, it's daylight robbery. For 15 quid though I can't complain.

Cheers to the OP, I've just ordered :)

thanks for that..... been waiting for a good offer to come along, just done it online.

woohoo FX in HD

edit £30 for new run and new LNB as well not bad..could have done it for just about £30 if I did it myself.. :)

bullit

I have a tempoary 26" TV at the moment and you can definitely tell the difference between HD and SD ...

HD is HD, it's always going to be a better picture no matter what the size of the panel.

The panel quality may define how much of an improvement you see, but not the size

If they gave me the box I still won't be paying £10 a month extra on top of the £40 odd notes I pay now.

They won't give you the box then :p

Got a couple of offers due on the 1/10 trust if you wish.

This is why I'm also hesistant for Sky HD. I want to perhaps downgrade my package by £10 to keep it at around £40.... but the other packages are crap :(

I already have Sky +, if I buy a HD box and plug it in, will I get the free HD channels straight away without paying extra?

Yes you will, i dont know what the reply above is about. This is exactly what i did. You will need to pair the card with the new box via the installer menu or via customer services if you do not have a handy phone line near the box. But thats it, and is applicable on every box change and has nothing to do with the fact that its an HD one.

Ooooo temptedings!

If I upgrade my current box rather than taking multiroom, I keep my box yeah? I have another pair of feeds going into the bedroom and will likely use them for freesat for now...
