This is build specific, I am in 2 minds whether to upgrade everything in my case or just upgrade the CPU/mobo etc.

My current build has

  1. Core i7 920 CPU with BeQuiet Cooler/heatsink
  2. ASRock extreme 6 mobo (its not good, want to change but 1366 hard to find now)
  3. WD Velociraptor HDD with OS on it
  4. 1TB WD Black with DATA
  5. 2x MSI 460 Hawk GFX cards
  6. 12GB RAM
  7. 850w PSU
  8. Samsung T240 Monitor (thinking about change to Dell 2713HM)
So do I go for an upgrade bundle? (CPU, MOBO, Cooler, RAM)

Or do I upgrade just the Graphics cards?

The PC will be used for Photo Editing and Games

I have already seen that most people on here prefer INTEL and recommend it over AMD CPU

My graphics need to be Nvidia due to the CUDA being best for photo editing

Do I wait until the new gear with DDR4 RAM and just do graphics cards, monitor and HDD's now?

What do you not like about your current motherboard?

Specifications-wise your current system looks fine, maybe just upgrade the graphics cards to a single GTX770?

Also changing the Velociraptor to an SSD would help boost speed by quite a lot.

The mobo don't over clock so good, and my setup seems slowish

Overclocking isn't the end of the world, but maybe it's not the board, maybe you should try to look up settings in the overclocking section on here? Or ask...

The slow factor could well be down to other factors, one fantastic upgrade would be an SSD which would almost certainly fix that issue, even if it's indirectly due to the Windows reinstall.
