Upgrade sound system

Hi guys - hope this is the right section.

I own a standard Seat Ibiza Ecomotive and i do a lot a miles communting, maybe up 35k year - so i spend a lot of time in my car.

I listen to a lot of music using my Iphone connected to the aux input.

The standard sound in the car is ok but not really very good at all. Base is aweful. What i would like to do is look into perhaps enhancing sound system. I don't mind spending a bit of money, but i dont want to to loose my aux input functionality or have super-quality speakers on display inviting criminals to break into my car.

I should point out I have no expercience in fitting sound systems to cars.

At this stage i am exploring the idea.

Anyone got any advice? Thanks.

300 quid tops maybe, a lot less if you look around or buy from the bay...recently kitted out two cars speakers infinitys 6 1/2" X2 a sub and amp (XPL 12" plus 600watt amp)all for under 50 quid....

head units maybe go for a known quantity and buy new, or rsk it and buy 2nd hand at 1/4 the price

I would be happy to spend £300. Is this something i could do myself (prefer not to tbh) or can i get somewhere to do the install at a reasonable price?

Ok, flicking through a car audio mag it would appear i have loads of options but I haven't a clue what to go for.

Options include: change head unit, put in new speakers (2 or 4 or more?), put in Components (what is this, looks like a speaker to me?), put in an amp, put in subwoofer, put in enclosed subwoofer.

I have a budget of £300.

can you guys recommend me a setup? And maybe identify which makes/ models to go for? Thanks.

I have decided to raise my budget to £500 as, after doing some looking around, it has become evident i am not going to get the sound i want for £300.

For a head unit, i quite like the look of the JVC KD-R901 which retail at circa £170. One of the Car audio shops recommended getting a 10" Edge enclosed subwoofer but i really want some more impartial advice before allowing a salesmen loose on my budget!

Any further advice would be apreciated. Thanks!
