Okay so i have come up with this for my upgrade from q6600, have a 5850 gfx card, corsair 650 psu and other such bits so just needed cpu mobo and ram really but threw in an ssd. Anything that could be replaced with something better at a similar price point?

My case is currently an antec 900, i will upgrade it to a corsair in a month or two but for now, will the noctua fit into that case? lol

Ordering in the morning, is it all okay? Not 100% on the memory/mobo or cooler? Looking for a good overclock. Ideally wanted to get 16gig mem to futureproof but cant find this low profile vengeance people were talking about

nocuta is 160mm high so i'd go for 165/170mm clearance, what cooler do you have in there at the moment ?

mobo/memory are fine, you could go for the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3, unless theres anything in particular you like about the asrock that the gigabyte doesnt do.

cooler wise i'd go for the thermalright silver arrow if you can find one, cheaper option but still decent is the Gelid Tranquillo.

Well still milling my upgrade about can always delay it a couple days. Have decided to just shell out on a new case looking at the 650D from corsair? The 400r looks okay too, but prefer the understated look of the 650 and the clear window.

Decided against the noctua after reading ur 920 review too, love the look of the aio liquid cpu kits so will get the 920 or the h100 (any idea which wld be better for clocks/noise?)

The board i know nothing about actually, just seemed highly recommended on the mobo forums but to be honest i just want one i can look to get a 4500 or thereabouts clock on, and that will allow me to crossfire a couple of 5850s?

Think the one i have at mo is a tuniq tower, its massive anyway i know that, but pretty much set on one of the liquid ones just for the space saving and aesthetics.

On another note, if i opt for the 16gb vengeance memory kit, just for futureproofing a little really. Will it hinder the clocks i can attain due to using 4 slots of memory?

Cheers for the help

i'd check the overclocking /cooling forum see what they have in there about the coolers.

mobo will be fine for that , maybe more without to much more of a push.

from what i've seen the memory speeds etc don't seem to really play a part in overclocking the sb's so can't imagine 16gb would hurt to much.
