I am completely out of touch with tech at the moment, used to be really into it - so i seek your help.

Current spec

Shuttle SN41G2
512mb 2700 ram
Athlon XP 1700
300gb harddisk. +200gb external for backups (sync toy is brilliant!)
R9700
Monitor - syncmaster 171p
+ spare Socket a XP3200 to sell.

I mainly use it for image editing (CS2) and the odd game (although only PES 6).
Now considering my budget is 650 tops!!! What would you spec for an upgrade? For Sanity's sake i will need a bigger monitor. You can expand the budget if you include conservative prices i will get for the above when i attempt to sell it.

Appreciated any suggestions

It's a little overbudget but it should last you a while, this motherboard has only 1 IDE socket and i'm assuming that you current hard drive is IDE, also assuming that your CD \ DVD drive is IDE, if your hard drive is SATA then you wont need a new hd.

Wondering what everyone else thinks of this.

Interesting - I thought i wouldnt need a new hardrive, but if newer motherboards have only one IDE connector i may need to go that way.

Would the monitor be good enough for image editing?
