Hey there, been considering upgrading my GPU to a 770, running with a 670 windforcex3 atm.

Just wondering if the gpu is what would be holding my rig back, any thoughts would be appreciated.

i5 @ 4.4ghz
16GB 1600mhz corsair
Gigabyte 670 windforce
Raid 0 SSD for software
SSD for OS

A 770 wouldn't be much of an upgrade over the 670 (it's basically an overclocked 680).
I'd personally say grab another 670 if your motherboard supports it.

Can't sli with this mobo sadly, and don't want to upgrade the mobo until I can afford a new cpu etc too ^^

Edit: Really just wondering what my performance chokehold would be, cpu/ram/gpu/etc?

Wait for non-x r9 290s.
And don't buy a gpu before Xmass.
Best time to buy stuff is just then, and this year we are lucky because we also have price war between nvidia and amd, with new cards appearing on the market.

It isn't so much of a 'performance chokehold', more the fact that as already said, the 770 isn't much of an upgrade over the card you have. You wouldn't be getting good value for money. Your cpu is still quick enough to take advantage of the better cards, so don't worry too much about that.

I agree with the advice above and suggest you wait. If the cash is burning a hole in your pocket then save a bit more and stretch to a 780GTX

i5 2500k, old one now ;-;

Yeah, I guess I'll probably end up waiting for Christmas, the 770 doesn't give a great gain in benchmarks, the 780 does but I don't really want to spend quite that much on a gpu atm.
