Hi all, used to be well clued up on this back in the day when overclockers first started used to be quite a spender, but now I don't bother so much.
Looking to upgrade my video card.
Have a nvidia gtx570 can run it at 800 no problem and pretty high on the memory aswell, was good in it's day and to be fair it's not too bad now.
My rig is old but I don't think I need to change, Infact I don't want to, as I really can't be bothered to take apart a perfectly good waterloop, that is reliable and cools great.
It's a thermaltake 360 rad and the loops cools northbridge, mosfets and CPU
Board is a P5E old I know almost vintage but is still working well, CPU is a 9650 running easily at 4ghz so should still have enough horsepower.
I want an upgrade that's not gonna cost the earth as my days of spending £600 plus on a video card are long gone, have bigger priorities, running a six cylinder bmw for starters.
Quite happy to stick to nvidia as they seem to co exist better with Intel CPUs than ati/amd offerings.
Don't really use my PC much these days as my ipad is an extension of my right hand and am quite happy playing game of war.
But the long waiting has finally ended and project cars has come out.
Will be getting a 21.9 monitor to go with it aswell.
At the moment I am using a 20" monitor as my 24" digimate gave up on me, so running 1680 and to be fair it works on high car and track detail, 8x anisotropic, but rest is on medium and low.
So if I up the Rez to whatever a 21.9 screen is I am gonna be wanting, plus I would like to tick some more of the eye candy boxes
Please don't suggest silly money cards as I am on a tight budget, but seeing how stuff moves on I will be able to get something that is probably twice as fast for little money.
Thanks for any help, I never used to have to ask it would have been me giving out the advice.

The 960 is using a newer architecture called Maxwell, has a 128 memory bus, it uses less power than the GTx770 which is based on the previous Keplar design, has a 256bit memory bus.

There are differences in the amount of cores etc, but you cant directly compare them against each other.

The GTX770 was like the 2nd best single core Nvidia card you could buy when it was released (the GTX780 was top dog), the GTX960 is designed and priced to be Nvidias 3rd best for this generation.

The GTX770 use to sell for much more than £169.

See here for example - http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/gta_v_pc_graphics_performance_review,5.html - the 770 is always ahead of the 960.

but the 960 does come with that free game that might be worth something to you.

Thanks for that
My 570 was like second best aswell but clocks to pretty much same speed anyway, I suppose same applies
