Hello,

I bought a Titan Saber system about 4 years ago from overclockers, which I've been pleased with and has served me really well. Recently it started getting noisier/hotter so thought replacing the entire machine. However I opened it up and realised a case fan had stopped working and the other fans were clogged up with a lot of dust/muck. After cleaning it out and replacing the failed fan, things are now quieter and much cooler again.

So rather than replacing the whole machine, was wondering about just upgrading the motherboard/GPU - mainly to take advantage of USB 3/Sata 6 and more readily available memory upgrades. I am not a heavy gamer, but do play a couple of steam games occasionally, so don't need a hardcore gaming upgrade, but at the same time, when I do play a game, I don't want it to be too sluggish.

The sabre is based on this:

It's in a Coolermaster Elite 335U case with a Corsair 650W PSU. I have also added an SSD drive which all works fine.

Can anyone suggest options for upgrading?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi,

What sort of budget do you have in mind for this? As you will need DDR3 RAM too (this will help speed the PC up too).

What i'd suggest really is this sort of upgrade:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Sapphire Radeon R9 270X Boost OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Card £131.99
1 x AMD Piledriver FX-6 Six Core 6300 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail £83.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLAD38G2400HC11CDC01) £55.99
1 x Gigabyte 970A-DS3P AMD 970A (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £50.99
1 x Raijintek Themis Direct Contact CPU Cooler £19.99
Total : £352.55 (includes shipping : £8.00).

What do you think?

Thanks doomedspeed, that's roughly what I was looking for. :)

pandem0nium - yes, it is, but want to take advantage of usb/sata upgrades.
