I was thinking of using the spare cash to pick up a friends small secondhand ssd and a cooler, not a great one but one the improves over the stock ones...
My plan is to upgrade again in about a year or so, but these parts would then move into my second pc. I have two (e6600 core 2 duo, 4gb asus pb5-deluxe which these parts would eventually replace and a q6600 core 2 quad at 3ghz 8gb, gigabyte ep45-ud3 which will get properly upgraded in a year or so, both systems need to step up, this is my attempt to do it a stage at a time.)
So these parts would go into my main pc for about 18 months and the q6600 would go into my back up pc till then. So I'm not sure about how future proof the z97 needs to be. After this round of upgrades, will come a graphics cards and then nothing for 4-5 years again by which stage I imagine it doesn't matter which board I get it will be obsolete?
