Hi there i writhe to see if you think is a good idea , or less,is worth it to have a good router, wil make a difference really in the connection or any router will do?

My connection is a 8 megs but i have been downgrade from vodafone to 4 megs because there where issue with stability often i had to reset the modem , i live in the Irish country side ,in a villagge , around a mile out of the exchange , so i been told the reason for the stability issue , my modem is a vodafone standard , home getaway Huaewy , model HG 556a, cable goes directly to my pc ,lan, on my desk.
I see the new asus diamond router, and i was wondering will buy a new bit more expensive router give a difference , on my connection , i use one pc on lan ,that will be my desktop, and my laptop on wireless. thank you for your time.

I am about to be upgraded and won't be needing my netgear dgn2000 4*100mb ports and wireless N

Its been good for the last 2 years giving me 4mb sync on a 63db line (long circa 1.8km)

I shall be listing it on eBay if you are interested.

I would recommend the net gear dg series having used them at my work for home users and 2 for my parents internet business. Not had problems with them yet others than some power supply failures

I will have a look , leave the link or the title and i will look up , thank you. did you had any problem with lan connection i see some review say some of this router wil not recognize the eternet connection , . But is in general netgear good , or as problem with firmware bugs and so?

Netgear DGN2000

Never had any issues with the LAN ports, and the firmware has not been an issue other than sometimes you login and it prompts you 3 times as if you got the password wrong but its correct and let's you in... Little strange but nothing that's really bothered me.

I have a Netgear 3700 v2, needs a modem as well to go alongside it but I then updated it with a custom firmware (Gargoyle). Best router setup I have had with a reliable QOS.

If you are looking for a router that has a good reputation for handling line quality then the Billion series is good. Personally I am looking for a router that can handle what I have well and the Gargoyle setup imho is the best for the price.

If you search for Gargoyle on this forum you'll find the full post :)
