Hello all.

I am thinking of upgrading in the next couple of months, but not sure what to change. My spec is:

E6600 @ 2.4
Gigabyte 965-P motherboard
4gb DDR2
4870 512mb

I think I'm going to wait until the i7 gets a bit cheaper before overhauling CPU/MOBO/RAM, but are there any CPUs/mobos I could cheaply use as a stopgap until then that would provide a real performance boost? Maybe shove a Q6600 in?

Also, my primary boot HDD is an IBM Deathstar.....would buying a 10,000RPM Western Digital give me a significant performance boost?

Thanks!

tried overclocking?
if your MB doesnt allow you to OC, maybe try a p35 chipset based one and see what you get out of you cpu

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp... P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 (MB-014-FC)

defiantly get a new HDD, just the fact your using a IBM deathstar should make you change. newer HDDs are faster, but it will really depend on what your pc is used for.

media /office work = faster boot up time, but little to no advantage in use

gaming = faster boot up times and reduced loading times.

also what CPU cooler have you got?
