I'm upgrading soon and I'm stuck at gfx card/cards soloution.

Original choices.

1. 2x x1900's in crossfire
2. 1x Nvidia 7950

Now im hearing that ATI have the x1950 cards coming up in august.

I used to play the upgrade game all the time but ive been using the same rig for almost 14 months now give or take but I've got the cash for a major upgrade so I need some tips from people still in the groove on current hardware.

Also if there's anyone here who's bought a pre-built from OCUK can you customise or do you have to stick to the bundles they have available?
 
2x x1900's in crossfire are better than the 7950 GX2, they would also be faster than 1x single x1950, although with the x1950 you will have the option to get another one so you could run those in Xfire, thus whooping everything in sight including quad SLi. :D

Btw x1950's have been put back to the 14th Sept. and the prices have gone up, could be £300+ VAT now according to Gibbo. :)

Tbh though 2x x1900's in Crossfire would last well into next year also, so you could miss the first few DX10 cards out, and just buy one when theres actually something using it, which wont be for donkeys anyway. :)

2x 1900's wll probably be the soloution I go for then, atm im using an x800xt could I run that with a 1950 in crossfirei f i did wait for that card? and if I could would it actually be worth mixing the 2 cards anyway?

Those resoloutions including AA & AF? My headache isnt getting better :)


Also the highest native res my mon supports is 1920 x 1200.
 
No you can't pair cards form other families in crossfire has to be the same, i.e if you got an x1950 you could only pair it with another x1950. :)

Btw your sigs to big, 400x75 and less than 20k only. ;)
 
I dont think dx10 will be an issue for me for sometime, probably stay away from vista until sp1. :)

Also the only games im playing atm are eve online, DOD source, fear, gt racing and Civ 4, so 1 gfx card will probably be enough but im looking to keep this gfx setup for at least 12 months.
 
Sorry abouyt the sig i'll remove till i get time to edit it, as for the font i'll have to ask my corp m8 from eve for it, watch this space.
