Don't bother going Phenom II, as it is not really much faster than your Q6600. 6 cores won't help for gamings, as games are still barely need using 3 cores, and Quad core is plenty.

You should just grab a 5850 for around £230. That's all you need for upgrade for now. I would however suggest you try overclocking your Q6600 a bit more.

Full system upgrade should be done next year, with new CPUs from both AMD and Intel.

Hi and thanks for the reply. The upgrade is not from my current sig but from an old amd 3400+ system that has broken down. (sorry not clear in 1st post)

Wanting the most bang for my money and the above is what I concider the best and not need updating any time in the next couple of years at least.

will be used to encode/rip films, music burning, while browsing and the use of email and office applications plus other applications.

Right...if that is the case, then the parts your choosen are great...
However, if you are sure you won't be installing a graphic card in the future, you can get away with just a Corsair CX400W. 400W is plenty for a build without graphic card, and also the Corsair CX400W can actually output 450W with no problems at all according to reviews.

Also, grab this:

Not only that it is much quieter than the AMD stock cooler, but provide decent cooling which would be enough if you do wise to overclock the 1055T from 2.80GHz to around 3.60GHz.

It will still be under £500, because you already met the requirement for getting free delivery service from OcUK, so you don't need to pay for delivery.

Yeah, with the changes noted above, the only thing I'd advise is switching the hard drive for a nice Samsung F3, the eco green ones are kinda designed for storage over the uses you mentioned. :)

Samsung F3 have compatability issue with Asus 8xx chipet board. Fireware update for the Samsung F3 would fix it, but I'm not sure how many people have experience of updating firewire for a hard-drive...well, at least I haven't.

But yea...chang the hard-drive...didn't notice the WD HDD is a green version.

Drive is for storage only and went for cost over performance.

Will maybe look at a gpu going forward so seen a 600w version of the above is not much more.

As long as the graphics onboard play hd content and blueray.
